During the president's resume of the case Madame Humbert constantly protested her honesty. She, said that she was the victim of usurers, and promised to tell latfc" wheTe the Crawfords and their hundreds of millions of francs are. Throughout the day Madame Humbert displayed the consuaijnate skill of an actress, toeinfe threatening, arrogant, pathetic and sarcastic, by turns.
