' ' i WELLINGTON, July 5. ! The Wellington and Manawatu jmrior j representative "Rugby .teajns . played a , drawn < gsine yesterday. The match was j rather' disappointing. Attempts at Tjack j play were-riot numerous, and when they ] were made the- result was poor. Though j the forwards -played a hard game throTtgh- I put, their -efforts .were largely discounted j by frequent -wild efforts to score at in- j opportune moments. Each team -scored | a try. A TEST MATCH. " The Rugby Uriipn's selectors, MessTs "W.;] J. Lewis, A." r Shirtcliffe, -Slid j; P. T£a-j laugher, have chosen the following teams j for the tost trial game in view of the! The game is to be played at Temnka on Thursday, Jiily 9th, at 3 p.m. shnTp. Mr W. J. Moore will be referee. The colours will "be; —-A teapi, preen ancl black; B team, -any colour. . This match Will be followed 'by another, the picked team v. a team <sf all comers, on Thnrsday, the 16th inst., -at the Amateur Athletic Grounds. It "may be of some interest to explain here that the selectors' choice, for the trial game "has been- restricted through a few of the players not being- kble to" get leave of albeence. The game on. Thursday next should, however, be a real good one, and as the players will so to speak be on their trial, the very best of play should be -witnessed. The chance to get a representative team away does not happen every winter, and it is to be hoped that: every "footballer "will do. his best to back tip the present efforts of the Union. The dribs "have chosen the selectors, -and all players can rely on their doing their very best -to pick a .rep. team. There should thus 'be -no jealousy, no cause for grumbling, when the final choice is made. ..
