In the Gordon Bennett motor race twelve .competitors started. - • /The weather was glorious, ard crowds of -sightseers camped all night along the line ef route, paying huge prices for tents on the edge of the road. The Napier machine led for the first two -rounds, and the speed was terrific. A later report show? that a German •competitor is leading with a Frenchman nqxt,- accidents having stopped the Englisman who first led.
