Jones, auctioneer) report that, owing to harvest operations bemg in full swing, the attendance of farmers and entry of horses at Tattersall's 0& Saturday were smaS. Any good sorts of horses were keenly competed for, young draughts selling up to £&5. Mr J. B. Rutland held his Usual sale at | the Beswict street auction rooms on Satur- ! day. There was a moderate entry of poultry, and the following prices were realised:—Roosters, 3s to 3s 3d; hens, Is 9d to 2s; ducks, 2s 9d, 5s M to 3s 9d per pair. Purebred Minorca roosters brought 6s 6d and 7s each. In pigs, slips realised 12s 6d and 15s; one wellbred calf realised 225, and an inferior calf ss. There was a slump in potatoes, sacks dug a week or two ago bringing 2s 6d to 3s each, and freshly-dug 5s to 7s. There ■was no grain offering. Butter brought B£d per lb; eggs, Is Id a dozen; and apples jjd per lb. Cutlery, crockery, furniture and other lines sold welL

CLEARING SALE. Messrs Maling and Shnlhrass report holding & most successful clearing sale at Te Mara, near Winchester, on Friday, on account of Mr McFarlane and Captain Wright. There was a very large attendance of buyers, and bidding was spirited throughout, the stock being all in exceptionally good condition.
