THE WELLINGTON SUMMER MEETING. Per Press AssociationWELLINGTON, January 24. The weather was fine for the concluding day's racing, the attendance fairly good, and speculation well sustained, £23,454 going through the totalisators, as against £27,851 last year, when there was three days' racing. The following are the results : JANUARY HANDICAP.—Petrovna 1 : •Sorncrled 2, Hinekoa 3. All started but Hohoio and General Symons. Won easily by a length. Dividends, £2 5s 6d and £2 17s 6d. FITZH ERBERT HANDICAP.—Auratus 1. Gladsome 2, Starshoot 3. Also ran— Waitaiere. Won easily bv two lengths. Dividend, £4 15s. RACING CLUB HANDICAP. Pallas .1, Cannie Chiel 2, Canteen 3. All started. I Pallas jumped away with the lead, and was never caught, winning somewhat easily by two lengths. Dividends, £6 10s 6d and £1 3s. The stewards enquired into Pallas' miming on Thursday, and considered the explanation given as satisfactory. PONEKE HACK HANDlCAP.—Catherine Gordon 1, Shackle 2, Narcotic 3. Scratched —Ix>lah and Hatley. Won easily by two lengths. Dividends, £6 2s and £3 6s. A. protest against, ,%st(. .and second horses for inconsistency 'was dismissed.
WELLESLEY STAKES. Treadmill 1, King Log 2, Regiment 3. The only starters. Won after a good finish by a nose. Dividend. £4 10s. ZEALANDIA PLATE. Advance 1, Cannie Chiel 2. The only starters. Won easily by two lengths. Dividend, £1 2s. METROPOLITAN HANDICAP. Hohoro 1, Somerled 2, Ayrdale 3. Scratched —Petrovna. Won by a length. Dividends, £1 19s and £1 5s 6d. PENCARROW • HACK HANDICAP.— Waikakaho 1, Aldinga 2, Good Intent 3. Scratched—Romany Lass, Kowhete, Betsy, Ringman, Dodona and Wind. Won by two lengths. Dividends, £23 Is and £2 Is.
