To the Editor of the 'Timaru Herald." Sir,—Will you ldcdly..for the benefit of several enquirers, answer the following question:—lf the. King dies without being crowned, who will be next heir to the Throne? I was always of opinion the present Prince of Wales: but having heurd several discussions on the subject latelv. feel Tatlier dubious. A reply will much oblige. I am, etc., TNCERTUS. [The Prince of Wales, without a shadow of_ doubt. King Edward VTT. became King, to all intents and purposes, immediately on the death of Queen Victoria. The Coronation ' s a great and solemn function, "but is r.ot necessary to the making of a King of Great "Britain and Ireland.—Editor "Timaru Herald."]
