A further batch of Boer prisoners at Hawkins Island, Bermudas, as a protest against the continuance of the war, took the oath of allegiance to Britain. A i«rty of other prisoners thereupon attempted to drown them in Great Sound, but the t ul>tary guard frustrated the attempt, and the assaflasts were imprisoned.

Forty-five progressive Cape Commoners have signed the petition for suspension of the Constitution and six others are expected to sign it. DECLARATION BY MR KRUGER. THE FINDER OF DE WET'S CAVE. Received 1.10 a.m., March 11th. LONDON, March 10. Mr Kroger declares that the Kuvper correspondence has produced no impression on the Boer Generals. Ross, of the Canadian Scouts, under Rimington found De Wet's cave. Seven hundred men, who are employed at the railway workshops at Durban strock for an extra Is per day. Ihe Government refused to concede the demand.

The ladies' committee to-day handed over £6O lis, which was collected by them to nrovide instruments for the band of the Contingent.
