READING FOR THE EIGHTH CONTINGENT.

To,|he Editor of the " Timaru Herald." Sir,—Nearly twelve months ago when the Seventh Contingent were leaving, I appealed to the public for any old literature they might have to spare, and the appeal met with a very generous response, so much so that I was able to forward two good sized cases, full of books and papers, and I was advised that they were greatly appreciated. The Eighth Contingent aie within a fortnight of being despatched, and if any well-wishers have any old books, magazines, papers, etc., to spare, I shall be pleased to receive, pack, and despatch them, and inasmuch as other centres probably are doing the same, I would give the South Canterbury section the first use of them. . I am, etc., G S. ERASER.
