FAIRLIE—MONDAY, JANUARY 20th. (Before Mr C. A. Wray, S.M.) Several cases involving ' a considerable sum of money were settled out of Court. In Smith v. J. Murray, N. McLeod, and Duncan (three cases), judgment went for. plaintiff by default. Mary Ann Watts v. William Watts. Complainant wished her husband bound over to keep the peace, as she was in bodily fear of him, as he had assaulted her and had threatened to do so again. Watts 'had assaulted his wife again in the morning, and when spoken to by the constable had turned on him and assaulted him, having finally t© be handcuffed and brought into Court. The Magistrate sent him to the lock-up till 12 o'clock, to give him time to recover himself, and even then he was very abusive and by his ill-considered conduct almost -exhausted the patience of the
Mr G. Raymond, who appeared for Mrs Watts gave the particulars of the case, and Mrs Watts gave evidence The Magistrate ordered Watts to find two sureties for £SO each and himself £IOO to ensure him keeping the peace for li months. . Mrs Watts also got a separation order. ____^
