THE DAIRY COMPANY.
To the Editor of tlie "Timani Herald." Sir, —I notice in your brief report of the monthly meeting of the Dairy Company that the directors have appointed or.e of their number, namely, M.r A. C. Tnornpson, as managing director. I there is no salary attached to this, as in the initial stages of a company such as this, the ordinaw expenses trench very heavily on the capital. I mis the more surprised on reading the report to find this step had been taken, seeing that it was only by a small majority that any remuneration was to be paid the directors, and this amount was fixed at 10s, just to cover travelling expenses. If the position of managing director is merelv nominal, well and good, but if it is a salaried post. I think it inimical to the best interest of the shareholders that such a billet should be created. We have a capable manager and an attentive secretary, who are well able to conduct the business of the company from month to month without burdening the infant concern with too many bosses. I am, etc., SHAREHOLDER.
