Madame Melba, in a letter to the Australian press, ' expressed pleasure at the prospect of a renewal of friendship with the people among whom she was born and brought up. She explains that the manyprevious rumours of her intention to visit the colonies were never authorised by her. The engagement is necessarily limited to September, October and November. Present arrangements do not include New Zealand.
