GEBALDEfE STOCK SALE.
The entry at the Geraldine stock sale yesterday was a small one, but all' lots sold at late rates. The following -are quotations :Dry ewes, aged, 10s;do., young, 13s lid;ewes, aged, 10s; ewes and lambs (all counted), 6s 3d; ewes in lamb, 12s; halfbred 2 and 4-tooth wethers, 14s. A few head of cattle sold at late rates.
SKIN* .AND WOOL SALES. There were again very large catalogues at the fortnightly sales of skins and wool held yesterday. Batchers' lots.—Mixed skins, Is 9d,25, 2s 2d, 2s sd, 2s 7d, 23 lid, 3s, 3s 3d, 3s 4d, 3s 6d, to os 8d ; merinos, 3s, os 3d, 3s 5d to 4s 2d. At per lb, crossbred skins 2£d, 2fd to 3d; halfbred 2%d, 3d, 3jd to 3§d; merino, 4d to 4jd. Pelts, 3d, 4d, sd, 6d, 7d, Bd, lOd to Is. Wool.— Trimmings, 2d, to 2£d; dead, ljd, 2d, 2£d, to 3jd; crossbred fleece. 3d, halfbred do. 3|d. Some fat sold at 15s 6d to 16s per cwt. THE ADDIS'GTON MARKET. Per Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, October 23. Gatfcle.—l22 head of fat cattle and 90 prime steers were yarded for sale. Last week's rates were fully upheld. Prime bullocks sold at £l2 to £l3 17s 6d, good steers £9 to £ll, others £7 5s to £8 10s, heifers £5 10s to £7 10s, cows £5 5s to £B. In store cattle, 100 met a dull sale. Calves fetched 13s, 15 to 18 months £1 16s, 2 years' steers £4 2s 6d, do. heifers £3 17s 6d to £3 193 6d, 3-year heifers £5 7s 6d, dry cows £2 to £4 2s 6d. Dairy cows met a good demand, best selling at £7 to £9, others a weak demand at £4 5s to £6 10s.
Sheep.—There was a mixed yarding of 3000 fat sheep. The market was dull, except for prime merinos. Heavy crossbred wethers sold at 19s to 20s, others 15s 6d to 18s, shorn 13s lOd to 16s 9d, extra prime heaw ewes 19s to 21s 9d, good 16s to 18s 3d, others 14s Id to 15s 6d, shorn 10s to 13s 6d, and up to 14s lOd for extra prime,' prime merino wethers 18s to 21s Id, others 15s 4d to 17s. In fat lambs, 188, mostly good, were penned, and all taken by butchers. Best sold at 15s to 17s, others 12s 6d to 14s 6d. The store sheep were 1864, mostly ewes with lambs. They met a poor sale, and more than half were passed. A few wethers sold at los 9d to 14s 6d, shorn .12s, hoggets 12s 9d to 13s sd, shorn ditto 9s, sound-mouthed ewes with ICO per cent, of lambs 7s 6d, all oocmted.
Pigs.—sso pigs were penned, and met an improved demand for fats. Baconers sold at 38s to 52s 6d, porkers 24s to 325, stores (mostly small and in great request) 10s to 15s, suckers and weaners 6s to 8-- 6d.
THE EURNSIBE IIAEKET. DUNEDIX, October 23. Cattle.—At Burnside market 119 head of fat cattle were yarded, the supply being short. There was a slight advance on last veek. Best prime "bullocks brought £lO 17s 6d to £l2, good £9 10s to £lO 7s 6d, light weights £7 10s to £8 15s, prime heifers- £8 5s to £9 10s, good £7 to £B, light weights £5 to £6 10s. Sheep. mostly good to prime wethers. As the result of the small entry, prices hardened by Is per head. Best heaw weight wethers brought up to 21s 3d," good 18s to 19s 6d. light weights 15s to 17s, best ewes 173 to 18s, lighter 13s 6d to 15?. Sixtyone lambs were yarded. Prices raneed 1 from 12s to 16s 6d. Pigs.—l4l pigs were penned. Suckers bronght 8s 6d to lis, slips 15s to 17s stores 20s to 22s 6d. porkers to oOsj baconers 35s to 4Ss, big pigs 7959. Wheat.—There is a moderate demand for prime milling, but medium is slow of sale. Fowl wheat is slightiv less in demand. Prime milling- fetches 2; 9d to 2s lOd, good milling 2s 7£d tr, 2s 3£d, whole fowl wheat or medium milling 2s 6d to 2s 7d, broken 2s to 2s sd. sacks in. Oats.—There is a good demand despite the Australian tariff. Millers requirements are small. Prime milling is quoted at 2s Sd to 2- sid. good to best~feed 2? 4d to 2s sd, medium 2s to 2s od. sacks extra. Barley.—Quotations can be considered only nominal. Prime Lakes malting 2s 6d to 3s, good bright heavy lines 2s 3d to 2 s 4d, aiejiam 2s, feed Is 6d. sacks extra.
