LOYAL ORANGE LODGE.

A special summoned meeting of Loyal | Orange Lodge No. 13, Timaru, was held | on Monday, evening. The W.M., Bro. , Blanchett, presided over a good attendance of the brethren. Correspondence of a lengthy and varied nature was read and received, and various accounts were passed for payment. Bro. «H. Martin presented the balance-sheet of- the 12th July celebrations, which was very satisfactory. | Three candidates were proposed for membership. The secretary was instructed to send a telegram of congratulation to Dunedin on the opening of the new lodge to be called "Sir George White. No Surrender" on August 28th next; also to send a letter of condolence to Bro." H. Thomas, sympathising with, him ip the death of his brother, who was killed at the recent- disaster at Broken Hill. The late Mr Thomas was a member of the Orange institution. A travelling card was granted to Bro. Blanchett, who is about to take a trip round New Zealand and Australia. , The annual election of officers resulted as follows W.M., Bro. J. Christmas; D.M., Bro. H. Martin; Secretary, Bro. r! R. Munro (re-elected) ; Assistant Secretary, Bro. H. Thomas; Treasurer, Bro. J. Logan (re-elected); Chaplain., Rev. Bro. G. Burgess, F.R.A.S. (re-elected); Tyler, Bro. G. Hunter; Committee, Brothers B. P. Bundesen (foreman), A.'Mills, A. Waud, D. Beard, J. Chiles. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded to the visiting brethren. Bro. P. Downward replied on behalf of' L.O.L. No. 35. Bro. Redpatli, P.G.M., was present, and. said a few words (and was given an Orange welcome). Bro. Redpatli is the oldest Orangeman in New Zealand. He has been, an Orangeman for 57 years, and was the first to bring a lodge warrant to the iifiddle Island.

The lodge was closed in due form at. 10 p.m.
