The Cunard steamer Lucunia, which is equipped with Marconi s apparatus for wireless telegraphy, has been successlul in sending messages thiougli the Nantucket light ship, a distance of 'tai miles, to New 1 ork. Received 2.55 p.m., August 20th. WRECK AND LOSS UF LIFE. The Yukon liner Islander struck an iceberg at Juneau, Alaska, within a mile of the shore, in a perfectly calm sea, and sank in 25 minutes. Sixty-five persons were drowned, and 107 were saved. A million dollars worth of gold went down with the vessel. "THE TIMES" ON FEDERATION. LONDON, August 19. "The Times" says that the New Zealand Federation Commission's report is conceived in no narrow or local spirit. New Zealand's decision is iiot final. It-may be well' for her to wait. . : MR DAVITT'S SPEECHES. Mr Dillon denies that Mr Michael Davitt spoke at the same meeting as O'Donovan Rossa in Chicago. Dr Paul Gernault, of Paris, has offered to allow Dr Koch to inoculate him with bovine tuberculosis, in order to determine the immunity or otherwise of humanity'. THE CZAR'S VISIT TO FRANCE.
