The population of England and Wales is 32,525,716; of the county of London, 4,536,034; of other administrative counties, 18,850,492; of country boroughs, 9,139,190. I Received 10 a.m., May 10th. - THE KAISER FRIEDRICH. The inquiry into the grounding rf the German warship Kaiser Eriedrich disclosed 1 that the mishap was due to drifting ice having shifted a buoy. PANIC IN WALL STREET. NEW YORK, May 10. The efforts of Mr E. H. Harrison, chairman of the Union Pacific Railroad Company and the Kuhn clique to wrest the Northern Pacific Railroad from Mr Pierpont Morgan and Mr J. J. Hill, a group of speculators, caused an unparalleled panic in Wall Street. North Pacific shares were sold heavily, resulting in an extraordinary bear squeeze. They jumped from 160 to 1000, causing a slump in all other stocks. Standard Oil Company shares declined 161 points, and other stocks 10 to 60 points through the slumping. The market rallied when the leading operators agreed not to enforce immediate delivery of Northern Pacifies which closed at 500, though neither the corner in shares nor the qxiestion of control of the railroad has yet ended.
