THE FIRE IN THE CARDIFF MINE,

Per Press Association. GREYMOUTH, May 5. A party of experienced miners leave here for Westport to-morrow morning. They have been engaged by the Government to extinguish the tire at the Cardiff mine. They will drive round the seat of the fire above the coal beds ; then put in cross-cuts and bore holes to-where the fire is; then water will be turned into the tunnel and so get to the seat of the fire through the boreholes.
