The Japanese Government has resigned, owing to internal dissensions in the two Chambers. Received 9.2 a.m., May 4th. PRUSSIAN MINISTERIAL CRISIS. BERLIN, May 3. A Ministerial crisis has arisen in Prussia, owing to the deadlock over the Cunol Bill, which provides for the linking together by a canal, capable of carrying seagoing vessels, of the basins oif the| Rhine, Elbe and Port Stettin. The cost is estimated at £19,500,000.
Owing to the deadlock over the Cauul Bill, the sitting of the Prussian Diet has closed. Dr "Von Miguel, Vice-President, and Minister of Finance; Frciherr Von Hammerstein Loxten, Minister of Agriculture ; and Herr Brcford, Minister.of Commerce and Mines, have resigned their Tortfolios. *

The Canadian Pacific, Atlantic Coast, and Northern Railway Companies, in) conjunction with Lcyland's steamship line, are opening a new grain route via the Lake ports to England. It will be 800 miles shorter than the present route. THE COMET. Sir Reginald Beauchamp is seeking u divorce from, his wife. THE COAL DUTY. Excitement prevails in the British mining districts over the prospective strike against the coal duty. Received 12.20 a.m., May 6th. . CENSUS RETURNS. The census discloses that the population of the county of London has increased by 1 307,717. In 67 of the county borougliß the increase has been 1,245,000. SALE OF RACEHORSES. Nine of Mr R. S. Sievier's horses have been sold at Newmarket for 12,000 guineas. Loddington, Duke of Westminster and Sceptre, for which Mr Sievior last year gave very long prices, were not sold. Lord Ellesmere gave 5300 gukeas for King',* Courier. DESTRUCTIVE FIRE. NEW YORK, May 4. Thirty-five blocks of buildings at Jacksonville, Florida, have been burned. The spread of the flames was greatly assisted by a gale which was raging during the fire. The fire destroyed the Sb. James' Hotel, the Windsor Hotel, the Catholic Church, and two; acres of residential properties?.
