THE COURT OF APPEAL.

Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, April 1. In the Porirua. case, which has been before the Court of Appeal for some days, -judgment was reserved. The Court is now hearing an application by the City Council, Wellington, to set aside claims for compensation amountingjo £25,000 for a small strip of land in Willis and Harbour streets owing to an inadvertence that the time was allowed to lapse within which action could be taken to contest the claim. The Council contends that the claim is greatly in excess of the land's true value, and that the Court has an inherent jurisdiction to prevent" an injustice' being done.
