Three months' bills are discounted at 4 per cent. Consols, 984. New Zealand 34 per cent, stocks, 1064Western Australian 34 per cent, stock, 101. The rest of the stocks are unaltered. Tlie wheat markets are quiet but steady. Cargoes are hardening, and Australian November-December shipments are quoted at 30s. Butter is hardening m price, nad choicest ia m good demand at 108 ; a few samples fetching 110». Secondary qualities are neglected. Danish is quoted at 1255. Rabbits are very dull, at Bd. Consignees complain of the state of the Victorian rabbits which were shipped under Government stomp. Copper is nominal; spot, £74 7s 6d ; three months, £73 2s 6d. Tin is very firm ; spot, £129 ss ; three months, £128 ss. Iron, 67s 9d. Lead, £17. Sugar ia quiet ; Geiman, 9s 7jd ; first marks granulated, lls 14d. The Bradford wool market is restricted ; common sixties, 17^d ; super, !B.Jd. At the Antwerp sales 776 bales of Australian sold at the rates prevailing at the close of the London auctions. Silver, 2s 54J. The New Zealand and Australian L»,nd Company's balance sheet reveals a 1 rofit of £86,383. ■ The company has carried forward £18,883. The " Daily Chronicle " was mulcted m £1900 damages and costs for publishing a leaderette libelling a firm of meat preservers.
