TENNIS AND CROQUET MATCHES.
Croquet and tennis teams from the Timaru Tennis Olub visited Ashburton on Saturday to pay matches with the Ashburton Olaba. Owing to the fact that many of the leading Timaru players were unable to go the tennis team was very much weakened, and consequently suffered an easy defeat. Borne good play was shown, especially m the com bined between Mrs Tennant and Cox (A] v. Miss Sotham and Orwin (T). The games at croquet were closely con tested, Timaru winning four out of th( five games played.
