ATTACK ON COLONEL DALGETTY.
THE ENEMY REPULSED. WEPENER HOLDING OUT WELL. RELIEF APPROACHING. REARRANGEMENT OF THE COMMANDS. Received April 15th, 4.46 p.m. London, April 14. A thousand of the enemy with eight guns, two pompoms, and two Maxims, Born>vtnded Colonel Dalgetty, who made a gallant resistance. Shell and rifle fire was continaocs on Tuesday and Thursday. The British artillery fire was terrific. Colonel Dalgety, by means of a sortie, captured a gun. Lord Roberts reports that the enemy's movement south is checked. Wepenet is Btill surrounded, but is resisting well. Troops are now advancing to its assistance. The health o! the troops at Bloemfontein is good, and the climate is perfect. The Times states ths>t Lord Roberts has re- arranged the commands as follows :— Major-General Pole Carew commands the Third Division, succeeding Major- General Gatacre, comprising Colonel Allen's 22nd Brigade and MajorGeneral Knox's force. Sir Archibald Hunter commands the 11th Division, comprising Major-General Inigo Jones' Guards, and Lieutenant-Coloriel L, Stepheneon's 18th Brigade. Troops, batteries, remounts, and sup* lies are rapidly reaching Lord Roberts. General occupied- Reddesberg unopposed.
