THE DUNEDIN AUTUMN MEETING. Per Press Association. DUNEDIN, March 21. The Dunedin Jockey Club's Autumn Meeting was commenced to-day. The weather was dull, and after the cup race showers of rain fell. The attendance was very large. The Governor, Lady Ranfurly and suite were present, also nearly all the members of the Fourth and Fifth Contingents. The sum of £7956 was put through the totaliaatoi. The results are as follows : — Firsi Hurdle Handicap, of 100 soys ; H mile. Mr Wise's Ilex, 12at 121 b (Robertson) 1 Mr Livingstone's Dundee, 12st 121 b (Cotton) 2 Mr Baird's Clinker, lOst 31b (McKenzie) 3 Seebreeze 9st also started but fell. Won by half a length. Time-3min 27 l-ssec. Dividend— £2. First Hack High Weight Handicap, of 60 soys ; second horse 5 soys ; 1 mile, Mr Napier's Witchcraft, Bst (T. Buddicombe) 1 Mr Lunn'a St. Ronald, 7st 121 b (Carmichael) 2 Mr Paull's Visionary, Bst 31b (McComb) 3 Two others started. Won by a length and a half. Time - lmin 44sec. . Dividend— £3 14s. (Pine) 2 140 Mr Jfi. Cutts' Djin Djin, Bst 71b (Matthews) 3 Also started— Jupiter, Bst Blb. Jnpiter and Advance were the first to show m front, but on passing the stand Jupiter drew clear. On rounding the turn Advance ranged up alongside Jupiter, and the pair went on together to the six furlong post, when Jupiter dropped back and was soon last, Djin Djin and then Sant Ilario filling second place. Advance led into the straight by two lengths, and despite the desperate efforts by Pine on Sant Ilario came on and won with the greatest ease by a clear length, Time— 2min 37aec, a record for the course. Dividend-£l l2s. Maiden Plaxb, of 50 soys ; 1 mile. Messrs Pollard and Sullivan's Dead Beat, 7st 111 b (Pine) 1 Hon. G.
