BOERS SURRENDERING. THE OCCUPATION OF PRIESKA.
Received March 22nd, 12.55 a.m. London, March 21. The Boers are surrendering m Basuto* land. Britain is issuing a proclamation, that peroonal penalties will be inflicted for wanton damage to mines. Colonel Kitchener when he occupied Prieska took 38 prisoners, 200 stands of arms, a quantity of supplies, and explosives. The Transvaalers escaped across the river. Lord Roberts telegraphs :— " Captain Cameron, the Tasmanian who was wounded m the hand and leg, is progressing satisfactorily. Mr Steyn m reply to my proclamation is circulating a notice that any burgher signing neutrality will be treated as a traitor and shot, General Brabant sent 400 mounted troops to Rouxville, where, by Kruger's orders the Britishers, Boers and natives wergtremg^Mflft.rinr.rieered. The Boers blew np GlensidihgTbrittg^ over the Modder river. Prior to capturing a train for General Gatacre (sec), two officers, Captain Hennessy, oi the Cape Police, and Captain Turner, of Montmorency's Horse, single handed trollled at nightfall from Spring* fonteln, disarmed 14 Boers, and overawed the engine driver.
