Chrieti) fifteen for three football seasons, s<> that physically he is no milksop. Mr George Fowlds, who Is elected for Auckland City, and enters Parliament for the first time, is a Single Taxer. He arrived m Auckland m 1885, and has a large business as a clothier and outfitter. Mr A. L. D. Frager is a Kaiapoi boy, having been born there m 1862. He was privately educated m the Church of England School, and took up the school profession, coming to Hawkes Bay as head master of the Wairoa school. He there learned Maori, and took up th«> business of a Native land Court agent m Hastings'. He has been successful. He is a fluent speaker. His victory was a great eurpriee, and was due to the over confidence of Mr M'Lpan'a fupportcrp,' many of whom would not take the trouble to vote. Mr Robert Heaton Rhodes.the elect of Kllrsmpre, iR the eon of the late Mr R 11. Kl'o'es, of Klmwood, and was born at I'urau, Lyitelton, on February 7th. 1861. Ho wrißeducatp(i at Turrell's school Christchurcli, at H< ivford School, England, and at Brasenose Collfge. Oxford, where he obtained the degree of B.ichclor of- Arts. Mr Rhodes has been a member of the Halawell Koad Board, and was for one year President of the Canterbury Agricultural and Pastoral Association. He ia President of the Tai Tapu branch of the St. John Ambulance Association, and Ins aIBO taken considerable interest m volunteering;, and holds the rank of lieutenant m the Canterbury Yeomanry Cavalry. In 1890 Mr Rhodes polled well for the Heathcotpfnow Avon) electorate, securing 642 votes against Mr W. W. Tanner's 854. Mr Khodes resides at Otahuna, Tai Tapu, and the hospitality of Mr and Mrs Rhodes and their interest m the well-being of their neighbours have made them most popular.
