The daily coaching season commenced on Ist November. For invalids afflicted with RHEUMATISM, SKIN-DIBEASAB, &c , the BATHS are ample, and are still m charge of Mr and Mrs Rogers, The SANATORIUM has accommodation for visitors, and is m charge of Mr and Mrs Macdonald. A new building for board and Lodging at lower rates will be ready about the New Year. There are other houses where ample accommodation and excellent rooms may be obtained. Marine Department, Wellington, N.Z., 20th November, 1899. NOTICE is hereby given that applications will b". received at this office for ihe appointment of Inspector of Machinery and Engineer Surveyor attached to this Department. Applicants to be eligible for this appointment muat have served an apprenticeship as an engineer or ironshipbuilder, must be not less than twenty-five and not more than forty-five I years of age, and must have served at sea m charge oi engines for at least five year.". They must also, at the time oi application, possess a first-class certificate of competency as engineer. They must forward a medical certificate showing that they are m good health and oi a robust constitution. Applicants must give full particular? of their service on shore and at sea, and forward copies of any letters of reeom mepdation, testimonials, discharges, and certificates that they may poasese. The salary payable will beat the raU of n£275 per annum. The selected np plicant will be required to undertake the duties of Inspector of Machinery Engineer Surveyor, Examiner of En«l neers, and generally such work as he may be required to perform by this De partment.. The appointment will be subject t< the provisions of " The Civil Service Reform Act, 1886," and "The Civil Ser vice Insurance Act, 1893."
