CORRESPONDENCE.
POLITICAL TUitNCOATISM. TO THE EDITOR OF THE TIMABU HERALD. Sir, — I regret to see that Mr HallJones is so inflated by his success m life through political " turncoatis a "as to forget his former political association and attitude, thinking that the electors have forgotten his former hostility to Mr Seddon, and the meeting held m Timaru by the Premier to further the candidature of a gentleman m opposition to Mr Hall-Junea. He, Mr HallJones, was then a professed Independent Liberal ; m fact, he may be regarded as one of the founders of the Independent Liberal party or Left Wing. When he waß a private member no one was more ready than he to denounce the psuedo-liberalismofthePremier.andlam surprised that such a man should so far forget himself as to express satisfaction at a true Liberal like Mr Montgomery being defeated by what Mr Hal 1-J ones will, when it suits him, call a hidebound Tory. lam truly sorry that the absorption of Mr Hall-Jones by Mr Seddon has not resulted m the development of those qualities which make the man. I am. etc., Elector.
