PARLIAMENTARY.
Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, September 15. .LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL. The Council met at 2.30 p.m. MUNICIPAL FRANCHISE. On the committal of the Municipal Franchise Amendment Bill, the Minister of Education inovyd the addition of a new clause providing that any person enrolled upon a burgess roll on any qualification shall be eligible for election aa Mayor or Councillor. Mr Shrimski protested against this, but the Minister explained that the clause was only proposed to clear up some ambiguity which at present existed. The Council on a division agreed to the clause by 27 votes to 12, and the remaining clauses were passed without amendment. TRUSTEES BILL. The Trustees Act Amendment Bill was passed through committee stages with the amendments recommended by the Statutes Revision Committee. These amendments only make the original draft of the Bill more explicit. Progress was reported at the final clause, and leave given to sit again. * The Council roae at 3.15 p.m.
