TEMUKA TOWN BOARD.

» i The monthly meeting of the Terauka Town Board was held on VVeduesday i evening. Present— Messrs J. Blyth { (chairman), R. B. Comer, and J. Find- < lay. Messrs Lee and Aspinall apologised for absence. Correspondence was read < and dealt with as follows:— From the ' Valuer-General, authorising alterations f on the roll. From the Chief Inspector f of Ihe Labour Department, requesting " the Board to name the day upon wl-iich E the statutory half-holiday will be held. < The clerk had replied that Thursday was the day appointed. This was now con- s firmed by resolution. From Mr J. The question of top-dressing with ' asphalt, which was mentioned by Mr ' Comer, was briefly discussed, but it was agreed to defer action until later. ' The chairman referred to the suggestion that the Temuka and Arowhenna < Town Boards should be armlgannted to form a borough, and expressed approval of the idea Mr Corner also supported the suggestion. Mr Findlay was not assured that the amalgamation would find favour with or be m the best interests of the bulk of the ratepayers. It was agreed to arrange a conference between the two Boards on ' Wednesday, February 22nd. Tuesday, February 7th, was fixed as the date upon ( which the amended by-laws will be con- ! sidered. Accounts amounting to £69 Os ' lOd were passed for payment, and the ! meeting terminated. '
