The New Zealand and River Piate Company's attorneys are advised by cable from London that the court sanctioned the cancellation of the uncal led capital of £4 per share. Dr Ginders, late superintendent at Rotorua Sanatorium, is dead. At the inquest on the body of Hamilton Scot a verdict of felo de se was re-, turned. Two letters were produced, one addressed to deceased's sister and the other to his cousin, dated llih November. One ran as follows : - " Just a line to say good-bye. I s»id said all I had to say m my last letter. Ever your loving, broken-hearted, raii-or-able brother." The one to his cousin contained :— " Just a line to wish you good-bye. Break it gently to mother. 1 couldn't help it. Ever your loving Arthur." " Arthur " was his nickname. The last letter referred to had been destroyed by his female cousin who i\ qceived it a month ago. The evidence showed that deceased was m a good position at Home ; did not like his prospects m life now, and was averse to exertion, except at cricket. Mr G. M. Reed's ' funeral was largely attended. Wreaths were sent by the proprietors and literary staff of the Herald, Star and Observer, the Auckland Branch of the New Zealand Journalists' Institute, and the Prohibition League, and a beautiful floral cross jointly from all the women's organisations ' of the city. Telegrams of condolence were received by the family from southern journalists, etc. WELLINGTON, November 14. Mr William Watson, ex-presidwit, and Mr Martin Kennedy, have been, nominated by the shareholders to the directorate of the Bank of New Zealand. Thenbeing no other candidates these two were elected. Four others have to be appointed by the Governor-in-Council. Mr Fryer, a -second class passenger by the Warrimoo, for Sydney, died as the vessel was running up the harbour. CHRISTCHURCH, November 14. On Saturday afternoon Mary Malluza, a widow, aged 67 years of age, residing at Lynwood, was found dead m one nf the rooms m her cottage. It is surmised that deceased had a tit and fetl on the floor. Some eighteen hundred visitors left for their homes by trains and steamers on Saturday evening. It rained continuously for forty-six hours from Saturday morning. Reports from the country say that it was very acceptable and that the crops benefited immensely. The rivers are full and m some places the creeks overflowed but no damage is reported. At the annual pedigree stock sale on Saturday the entry was not very large and prices moderate, the exception being that of 100 guineas obtained by Mr Deans for a shorthorn Russell's Florist bull Much stock was sold privately to be sent to the North Island. !
