GRAIN AND SEED REPORT.
Messrs Samuel Orr and Co., Stafford street, Dunedin, report for the week ending April 27th, as follows : — The weather m the south is broken, stopping progress with threshing and m too many cases cutting and stacking. Wheat. — The past week has been characterised as an exceptional one for some time, as on account of war matters and Sydney and Melbourne markets advancing, ours went up m sympathy with them, and-anything fit for the rollers was anxiously sought after, especially hard quality. We quote prime milling velvet and tuscan up to 4s 9£d, ordinary 4s 6d to 4s 7d ; Dunedin terms. Oats.---The crop south is not turning out so prolific as it was expected, and with a keen demand for all qualities and from all parts, prices firmed, so that during the week sales have been made at 2s Id for Sutherlands, Is ll^d to 2s o£d for Danish and prime bright heavy sparrowbills, 1. ordinary sparrowbills Is 10£ dto Is lid; sacks extra, on trucks at the South stations. Barley has also been m good demand at recent quotations. Potatoes,—These are firm and quote up to £4 2s 6d for prime northerns.
