Per Press Association. DUNEDIN, April 28. The Wakatipu-Laira collision enquiry was concluded to-night, so far as the taking of evidence is concerned. Captain Anthony, of the Pukaki, gave evidence as to his vessel refusing to answer her helm when coining up.

This he attributed to her touching th bottom. Captain Smith was examined, and M W. 0. Macgivgor addressed the Oourt s some length, submitting that Captai Smith had taken every precaution thf he could, and was not to blame. H contended that the condition of th channel was responsible for the ace dent. He asked to be allowed to put i a sworn declaration by the captain c the fcuterpe, which came up the channc immediately after the Wakatipu. The Court would not admit it as cvi dence. Mr Carew, S.M., intimated that th Court would give its decision on Wednes day next. <
