THE WESLEYAN CONFERENCE.

Per Press Association. DUNEDIN, March 5. At the Wesleyan Conference, Messrs G. Howell, D. A. N. Scotter, and M. H. Gilmour were accepted as candidates for the ministry. It was reported that the Queensland Conference had accepted the Rev. Mr Hudson as substitute for the Rev. Mr Luxford. The Rev. Mr Morley, the secretary, presented the report of the church building and loan fund, which with certain amendments was adopted, and Mr Morley was thanked for his valuable services and reappointed. The following committee was set up for the coming year :— The general secretary, the superintendents of the Christchurch (Durham Street), Christchurch South, and St. Albans, with Messrs W. Harris, R. W. England, G. H. Blackwell and G. Bowron. The secretary and Mr W. Harris were appointed as general treasurers. Thanks were given to the Rev. Messrs Dewsbury an«i Buddie, and they were reappointed treasurers of the superannuation fund. In the evening the members attended a Sunday school demonstration m the agricultural hall. The members of the conference are holding a picnic to-day, and the weather is delightful for the purpose. The Conference met m representative session this morning. The Rev. H. Bull presented the report of the Committee of the Plampen Bequest. It was agreed to appoint the Rev. Bond and Spence and Messrs Stevenson and Baßsett, Trustees. The report of the Sunday School Union was presented and adopted, and com-

; mittpes appointed. The president of the Conference offers three medals, one m each grade, to the scholar obtaining the highest marks m this year's examinations.
