AN EXPLANATION.
TO THE EDITOR OF THE TIMARU HERALD Sir, — In reference to your report o the Mackenzie County Council, yoi say that " Messrs Mackay and Herve: had been asked £5 a year towards tin surplus water from the Ashwick Fla water-race and that they would not giv< more than £2." It is not quite clea from your report that they offered £,', each, that is £4 a year. I am, etc., WILLTAM HERYEY.
