The Legislative 'Assembly by a large majority negatived the Bill proposing to confer the franchise on members of the military and naval services not resident m barracks. THE BETTING DECISION. The reversal of the betting decision caused great rejoicing. The bookmakers hope to obtain , a refund of the recent fines. It is probable that action will be taken to achieve this object. In reply to questions m the Assembly, the Minister of Justice stated that he intended to cable to England for full particulars of the latest decision, and ascertain how far it alters the HawkeDunn decision.
