Advices from Manila state that the Spaniards captured the town of Tunis, held by. a large body of insurgpnts. Sixteen hundred insurgents were killed. The Spanish commander will grant an amnesty to all insurgents who yield by the 10th of April. INSURGENT LEADER CAPTURED. News from Havannah states that Rivera, who succeeded Maceo as commander of the Cuban insurgents, has been captured by the Spaniards. THE PANAMA CANAL FRAUDS. Pahis. March 30. The Chamber of Deputies has authorised the prosecution of three members of the Chamber implicated in the confess* ion of M. Artqn. M. Boyer, a member of the Ch amber of Deputies, who is implicated by M, Arton's confession, has been arrested. Many documents found in his possession were seized. March 31. The Senate has authorised the prosecution of M. Levrey. ADCEL. Prince Henry of Orleans and Baron Valot, the French explorer, quarrelled while travelling in Abyssinia. They were separated, and arranged to fight a duel when they returned to France. NAVAL. London, March 30. The British war-ships belonging to the Cape station have been ordered to make ready to proceed to Bea. AGENT-GENERAL OF SOUTH AUSTRALIA. Mr Play ford has accepted a renewed term of office as Agent-General of South Australia for three years, but may retire whenever he chooses. VOLUNTARY SCHOOLS. : March 31. Bishop Moorhouse urges that the sub* scription to voluntary schools ought to be equivalent to the relief granted by the school rates. ADMIRAL RAWSON. In consequence of the orders to the Cape Squadron, to prepare to proceed to sea, Admiral Rawson, who recently commanded the operations of the Niger ex pedition, returns to, the Cape immediately. THE SOUTH AFRICAN LEAGUE. Capetown, March 30. A meeting of the South African League has been held here. The proceedings were marked by strongly patriotic feeling. The speakers denounced, the evidence given by Mr Schreiner before the Transvaal Raid Committee of Enquiry. Colonel Rhodes estimated the cost of the raid at £250,000. GERMAN OFFICERS. .
