MISCELLANEOUS.
, » New developments of the X rays (says the Daily Telegraph) are continually taking place, the latest being a system of electric lighting for the interior of the human frame. No dynamo or other elaborate apparatus is required. The machinery consists of a small transparent pill, which, instead of containing aloes and soap is charged with Rontgen rays. The patient swallows it, and it at once lights up his internal economy, and greatly facilitates the investigations of las me~dical advisers. When the light goes out the transparent capsule simply melts away. It is an American who has invented the Hontgen (.ill, but it is quite evident that the system is capable of much wider utility than a mere aid to diagnosis. With a supply of these pills m his pocket every man is capable of becoming his own lamp-post, and on the darkest of nights may turn himself into an ambulatory lighthouse to the advantage of himself and the neighbourhood. But a limitation of the dose would become absolutely necessary, because if a rash person swallowed two or three at a time a policeman might mistake him for a conflagration and call out the fire
