Mr Charles O'Haia Smith, the well known New Zealand auditor, who arrived recently on a trip for the benefit ol his health, died at Bathurst this morning. THE NEW HEBRIDES. Information has been received that the French New Hebrides Company have despatched two steamers from Havre to take up the company's trade between New Hebrides and New Caledonia. NORFOLK ISLAND. News from Norfolk Island shows that the appointment of Colonel Spalding as Administrator, is viewed with dissatis faction by the islanders, who consider themselves competent to manrge their own affairs. ONE LUNATIC THE LESS. Melbourne, September 10. A young man named McPhail, who was rather an eccentric character, ran a-muck m South Melbourne to-day, and with a repeating rifle wounded a couple of people and then shot himself dead.
