Per Electric Telegraph— Copyright. Per Press Association. Shanghai, June 6. The German gunboat Itlis bombarded and silenced the Chinese fort at Hove, because the authorities prevented the departure of a steamer carrying Fang Ching, President of the Formosa Republic. The steamer afterwards proceeded on her way to the town of Taipehafa, m Formosa, where the powder magazine was set fire to and exploded, killing ninety persons.
