(By Telegraph. ) AUCKLAND, June 6. William McCarthy for horse-stealing was sentenced to twelve months, and Ernest Wright for larceny of and endorsing and uttering cheques eighteen months. WELLINGTON. June 6. Michael Knight, for false pretences got four months and Frederick Maryott for theft of jewellery six months. The charge of attempted murder against Thomas Edward Mclntosh, late guard of the Wellington-Manawatu Railway Co., was heard and prisoner was acquitted. In the Divorce Court to-day, a decree nisi was granted in the case of Goodman v. Goodman. This was a case in which the husband, a resident of Motueka, petitioned for a divorce on the ground of the wife's adultery. CHRISTCHURCH, June 6. The Supreme Court to-day was occupied with the casePynev. Black, Beattie and Co., claim £3000 damages for injuries sustained by plaintiffs wife in October last. The latter was in Black, Beattie and Co.'s drapery shop making purchases when a roll of cocoanut matting fell through the well on the first floor and struck Mrs Pyne by which she sustained injury to the spinal cord and complete paralysis below the seat of injury. The Jury returned a verdict for plaintiffs, and awarded £200 damages to the husband and £400 to the wife.
