GERALDINE COUNTY ANGLERS' SOCIETY.

The annual meeting of the above society •a» held at the Crown Hotel, Temuka, on Wednesday afternoon, the president, Mr A. M. Clark, ucou^yiog the chair. The annual report showed that there was some slight improvement m the society's finanoial position, although several old msmbers had dropped out on leaving the district. During the year one competition had been held for which tho entry waa fairly good. The society's challenge oups were won by Messre W. Mendelson and A. Beck. The annual dinner was dispensed with, the day following the competition (a Saturday) being unsuitable. A fly-book presented to the society per Mr James Findlay, from Messrs Arthur Briccoe and Co. remained to be fished for. The balance sheet showed a credit of £2 8s lOd. Ihe report and balance sheet were adopted as read, on the motion of the president, seoonded by Mr Goza. Votes of thanks were passed to the retiring officeri, especially to Mr E. Cutten, for his services as recretary, and also to the judges at the competition and to riparian owners. Tho votes wore acknow» ledged by the preddent. Moserß F. Cameron (Timaru), H. Lse, D. Ferguson, and Btewart Clark sere elected members of the society. On the motion of Mr Gaze, seconded by Mr D. Taylor, Mr A. M. Clark was re-elected president of the society. Messrs J. T 31. Hay hurst and J. Guild were electei vice presidents ; Mr X Cut ten secretary and tr« usurer ; &nd Messrs G. Laing-Meaaon, F Cameron, P. Ooira, R. Pinckney, H. 0 Niohohe, D. Taylor, and J. McLean, members of committee. It was resolved to hove a fishing competition for Mos»ra Briccoe & Co 'a fly -book on Thursday, October 12th, the conditions to be — Artificial fly only, hours from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m., basket to be the largest number of trout over 10 inches irrespective of ueight; Mr P. Coira to set as judge. Several matters of general interest were discussed and the meeting terminated.
