Among the passengers are the New Zealand cyolists. Mr Stead's horses, loh Dien, Melinite, and Stepniak were shipped m the atearr.er. BURGLARIES AND MURDER. Burglars entered the City Bank at Oarcoar this morning, and surprised the manager, Mr Phillips, whom one attaoked with a tomahawk. Mrs Phillips and Miss Cavanagh rushed to his resoue. A bloody struggle ensued. The robber struck out right and left, instantly killing Mr Phillips and Miss Oavanagh. Mrs Phillips and her child were seriously wounded. The robbers then escaped. Search parties are scouring the district without auccessj though the murderer is believed to be known. The Joint Stock Bank at Wickham, near Newcastle, was also entered last night. The clerk, Mr Charles Hurt, while visiting the bank at 10 o'clock, was bound and gagged, but the robbers failed to secure any money and escaped. THE WAIHORA. Melbourne, September 24. Sailed— Waihora, for New Zealand. MINE ROBBERIES. Bbisbane, September 24. Seven Mount Morgan and two Kockhamplon miners have been arrested on suspicion of extensive robberies of gold at Mount Morgan mine. The robberies have extended over a number of years. The arrests were effected by a large body of police and detectives. Some sensation was caused, and other arreats are expected. The supposed leader of the gang, who was managiog the affair, was arrested m disposing of some of the stolen amalgam to a Rockhampton storekeeper. Detectives have been engaged m the mine as workmen for months past, preparing for a coup.
