The later cablegrams concerning tbe Dublin dynamite outrage Bhow that it ia repudiated by the Nationalists and is attributed to tbe "extreme cJyDatqite section." It is also stated that there is renewed activity amongst the Ameri-can-Irish dynamiters. These wretches are probably gnilty of the outrage, and it is to be hoped that the crime will be sheeted borne to them, and that the actual perpetrators will suffer tbe extreme penalty of the law. We have long been of opinion that dynamiters and anarchists are as a rule treated ,fur too leniently by all the European Governments. Men who deliberately place infernal machines for tbe purpose of destroying life and property are not fit, objects for mercy. ■ They should be regarded as human tigers, and be knocked on tbe bead without tbe smallest compunction. Yet over and over again we have observed a disposition to impart a sort of respectability to the doings of tbe dynamitards by tacitly if not avowedly recoguiaing a political element m their crimes, and lessening the punishment on that ac count, m Ireland at tbe present moment there are politicians who, though, they certainly would not sanction such outrages, arc nevertheless demanding the release of men proved to have been guilty of them or of crimes akin to them. The Parnellito party clamour for au amnesty which Bhould include all convicts of that description, and yet it would be .unjust to denounce tbe party as dynauiitarde. Mr Morley, though he has opened Ibe pi-ieou-doom for Rome political uflVndeni, lihb vetiioted tlic full I'arncll-

ite demand, and tbe recent outrage will doubtless strengthen him m Im determination, to go no farther. The political eflept of tbe occurrence may perhaps be very considerable. If it had hnppened before the General. Election it might have lost Mr Gladstone some seats. It may now cause mnny English and Scotch Home Balers to reconsider the position, and may influence their votes m the not improbable event of another appeal to the constituencies at an early date. If the " renewed activity " of tbe American-Irish dynamiters manifests itself m further explosions m Dublin or London, tbe prospect of a successful issue for Mr Gladstone's Irish policy, whatever measure of Home Rule be may propose, will be very remote indeed.
