UNITED FRIENDLY SOCIETIES' DISPENSARY.
The annual meeting of the Dispensary Board of Management was held last evening. Mr J. 8. Bennett, chairman of the board, presided. Ihe balance-sheet and following report were adopted on the motion of Mr Pratt, seconded by Mr Hotbwell : — " We have again tho pleaßant duty of congratulatjne the members of the board on the very aatinfactory progress the Dispensary has ■"ado during the six months ending December 31st. The cbbli Bales slightly exceed those of the previous term, and the book debts are £10 lesß than the amount due at lfißt balance. Tbo sum of £39 2s has been paid back to the lodges, reducing the borrowed capital to £449 13s, and the balance to profit and loss, nearly £200, leads us to think that a further reduction m capital, or a reduction m fees Bhould be made. We notice that tho value of the stock keeps still increasing. This stands now at £158 as against £405 at last valuation. We have pleaßuro m testifying to the ability of the secretary whoßO books and accounts we found m first-class order." The balance sheet shows the receipts for the past six months to have boon £488 Oi 4:J, and the credit to profit and loss £199 12* Bd, of which there is the sum of £50 17s 6d on fixed deposit m the bank. The dispenser's report shows that the institution is m a very flourishing and pro gressivo state. During the six months 4092 prescriptions have been dispensed, as agiinet 3353 for the previoun half-year, and the cash sales amounted to £270 8j 9d, as against £267 18a 3d the previous term. [t was resolved on the motion of Mr Pratt, seconded by Mr Mnir, that it be a recommendation to the incoming board that a refund bo made to the various contributing lodges to tho amount of 10 per cent (£45) on the balance of the borrowed capital. A hearty vole of thanks was passed to the chairman, secretary, dispenser, and auditors, for the satisfactory manner m which the business had been conducted. The chairman returned thanks and hoped that ftll the members of the frieDdly socioiies to whom thn dispensary really belonged would m futuro patronise the institution, which was now m a prosperous state.
