October 14. j sheep. I About 2000 store sheep sold freely and moro j were wanted. The entry consisted of orossbred ewes and lambs, which met with a ready aale at 15s te 21s according to age, quality ,and percentage of lambs ; nice 2-tooths brought 10a Id to 16a Bd, hoggets 12s to 13s 2d, merino wethers m forward condition 9a 3d. About 200 early lambs wero sold at 9a 3d to 13s 6d. In fat sheep over SOOO were offered, of which only two lines wore shorn. Best crossbreds sold from 18s 3d to 203 3d and went off freely at about 6d to SM a head cheaper than recent quotations. There 'was a more pronounced dsop m the values of second-rate lines of sheep requiring a trifle more finishing-. A oonsiderabla proportion of the entry; consisted of merino wethera for which a good demand existed at from 13s to 15s. CATTLE. The entry of fat cattle oonaisted of 197 head of nice sorts of handy size. Heifers and steers brought— for heifera £5 Toa to £Q 15s and steers £7 to .£lO 10s. The value 3 obtained last week were not fully kept up, but there was an absence of poor quality beef or old cows. In store oattla the entry was very mixed, but 3-year-old steers sold at .£3 7s to heifars at .£1 17s to .£2 153, year and year-and-half-olds from 23s to 29s ; dry cows, bullocks, and odd lots sold freely at improved rates, dairy cows of good quality .£5 to^6 7sCd. PIGS. Only about 100 were sold, and these comprised porkers, weanera, and improvers, for which a good demand existed ; porker 3 fetohed 3id per lb.
