THE PROPOSED SCHOOL FOR CANNINGTON.
TO THE EDITOK OP THE TIMAETJ HEBALD. Sib, In yonr report of the last meeting of the Kducation Board X notice that Major liamfield reported on an interview with the residents of Cannington, who deßi'rcd to have a fohool established there, and that the utmost average they, could expect would be 15, and out of this 4 would be taken from the Cave school. Being a resident of the Cave district I do not think they could get an averogo of 10, including the ' 4 from the Gave school. Wow I think it a little too good to spend Government money at the rate of £81 a year to educate, ssy, three small familial, when there is a school os near to them as thoro m m many more thickly populatod districts. Looking at' the over crowded state of some of the echools m Timaru for want of fund*, I think the majority, and not a favoured few, should receive the benefit of any money tlio board can spare.
