CORRESPONDENCE.
A PUBLIO EYESORE. TO THE EDITOR OF THE TIMARCJ HERALD Sib,— Our civic fathers waxed eloquent laßt night on tho building rogulotiona, and vory properly pointed out tbe publio eyesoro that the buildings on the corner of Beawick aud Stafford Street assuredly are. But thore ie a far greater offence to the eye on the opposite cornor, that ia to say, the corner on •which Mr Murdoch's shop and others used to be. Sinoo that block of buildings was burnt down pedestrians on our main thoroughfare have beon treated to an uninterrupted view of sundry objectionable outhousee. Surely thore is eotno power in the town that oould seo that a hoarding or f«-nco waa put up ao aa to screen such pluces from publio view, for at present they stand a groaa offence to common decency. I commend it to Iho consideration of councillors. I am, etc , G. E. Wabburtos. Timaru, October 18th, 1891.
