GERALDINE ROAD BOARD.

The monthly mooting of the board was held on Monday last. Preaent — Messrs T?. B. Flatman, T. Motcalf, Deßenzy, J. Eelland, and K. Brophy. The following tenders for works were acoopted :— Olearing manuka and forming dray track at Kokfthu Bush— J. Sugrue, £13. Building porches to cottages m Tolbot streot— J. fl. Dean, £11. After some diecuSßion on the matter a resolution bearing thereon wae passed, which the board deemed unwise to have published at the preaent time. Correspondence received was read as follows : — From Mr E. 0. Dann, Temuka, offering t:> sell poisoned wheat at certain prices, It was docided to order sir bushels of same. From Mr F. Every, requesting that the road lino at the back of his section bo made, passable.— Granted . From Mr G. Bae, requesting that the name of Mr 8. Mcllroy be placed on the ratepayers' roll insteid of his own.— Granted. From the secretary South Canterbury Charitable Aid Board, enclosing Jrecoipt for the board's half-yearly subsidy. From Mr E. Spoeohley, requesting that. Mr J. Allan's name might bo substituted for his on the rate roll. From Mr A. McXood, asking for consent to license for slaughtering on ,R.S. 25799, on Kakahu. Mr MoLeod to be informed that the board had no objection to tho request. From Mr A. E. G. Rhodas, M.H.R., re importation of stoats and weaaeln, that he would bring the board's request before the notice of the Minister of Lands. From Mr G. D. Wreathall, requesting the board to postpone its consideration re application of Mr Foßter for formation of road going through his perpetual lease sootion m Gapes' Valley, pending hie final appeal to tho Chief Surveyor. From the Chief Surveyor, intimating that the reports from the board, and Mr Mathias showsd that the new line on Mr Wreathall's land^wasa far better one. It was deoided to await the decision of tho Land Board. From Mr ST. Thomce, asking for a slaughterhouse licence for R. 9. 10083 ifiltou. Application referred to tho County Council. From Messrs Deßnislon, Smith and Co., Peel Forest, asking the board to remove afoot plank across th" river bed, ob they were fencing riverbed section 36156 below creek station. — Same to bealtondod to. From tho clerk to County Council, to tho effect that tho council had deoided to put the Orari bridge m repair for whool truffle. 1 From same, asking for roturn of reoeiplß and expenditure of tho board for yoar ending Maroh 31st last. — Request attended 10. The overscer'o report was read and dealt with. It was decided not to do any further work to cottages m Tulbot street at prosont. Tho 1 olerk was instructed to obtain quotations for pipes for culverts by next board day. Several gorso defaulters' names were placed before the board, and it was resolved that ton : should be proceeded aguint under the Public ' Works Act m tho local cjurt as booh as oon- [ venient. AoDountßjjjamounting to £87 10s 5d were ' paßsod for payment. A levy of f of Id m tho £ was rosolvod on on all rntoublo property m Ihe Goraldino Road District for year ending 31st March, 1892.
