Thursday Island, May 27. Eastern news to hand by steamer states that a constitutional difficulty has ariaen between the Governor of Hong Kong and unofficial members of tbe Legislative Council. The latter opposed a proposed increase m salaries, and the Gover* nor declining to cable to Lord Knutsford, Secretary of State, on the question, the Opposition sent a communication, and the Governor is much enraged at their action. (Boceived 12.45 May 27th.) THE DORIC. Hobart, May 27. R.M.S. Doric, from London en route for New Zealand, was signalled at 8.15 this morning. (Eeoeivod 7.20 p.m.. May 27th.) The Doric arrived at 10.30 this morning, and sails for New Zealand at G a.m. to-morrow. She brings 40 passengers for Australia, and 73 for Now Zealand. GENERAL SHIPPING. Ssdney, May 27. Sailed-— Eileon Doonan and Handa Islo for Kaipara, Three Cheers and Prosperity for Auckland. Melbourne, May 27. Arrived — Waimate, from Kaipara. Newcastle, May 27.
