The Wagga Gold Cup resulted as follows : — Yanko 1, Dpfiance 2, Yarra 3. Won oaeily. Time— 3inin 44aecs. THE NEW ZEALAND RAILWAYS., Melbourne, Sept. 1. The Argiia has an article to-day dealing with the New Zealand Railway Commissioners' annual report, m which it states that m railways as m other matters it looks as if the sister colony had turned the corner, and ia to be congratulated ' accordingly. Comparing tho Now Zealand railway returns with tho Viotorian tho Argus states that tho working exponsos are six per cent loss than last year's Victorian rates, and that the lines now pay 3 por cout. , whilo our's this year give very little more.
