The following is the Christohurch Corn Exchange report for the week ending Friday, July 18th. 189J :— Business m wheat has been somewhat restricted owing m part to the breaking of the cable, and as al latest advices the English market was somewhat unsettled, the interruption has occurred at an unfortunate tima ; prices have hardened, and holders decline rates lately offer-ins 1 , pending fresh quotations from London. Oats show no improvement m valnes, and sales are with difficulty effected noless at prices that are disheartening to growers. Bnyers, however, see no inducement to operate to any extent. Barley — A good enquiry. for prime malting exists, bat medium and feed qnalities, m sympathy with oats, are almost neglected. Beans are taken to fill up spaco m homeward-bound vessels at quotations, the local demand being almost nil. Peas — Bine Prussians are m jpod demand ; there i 3 but little enquiry for other descriptions. Garden varieties are offering more freely with a good demand. Kyograsa — Farmers this season will have the oppor- 1 tunity of supplying their wants either from i imported seed or local stocks, large parcels of English grown having been recently landed.
